What's not covered?

The contract covers only those parts, systems and appliances, specifically mentioned as covered and excludes all others. The contract does not cover appliance failures due to lack of maintenance.  Items covered must be located within the main foundation of the home. Your homeowner's insurance policy may cover certain items that are not covered under this membership coverage, such as water damage to your floors or ceiling caused by the failure of an appliance..

Is everything in my home covered by the Canadian Home Protection Plan?

No. However, we do offer coverage for many of the most frequently occurring breakdowns of appliances. Please review your contract for specific covered items, terms and conditions, limitations and exclusions.

If I have a pre-existing problem with my appliance, Can I purchase use my plan to get it fixed?

We do not cover pre-existing conditions. However, if a covered item were to fail while under the protection of an active Breakdown Insurance Policy, it would be covered subject to the conditions, terms and limitations of your Policy. The Policy begins 30 days from purchase date.

Can I enroll in the Canadian Home Protection Plan if I am not in a Real Estate Transaction?

Yes. The Canadian Home Protection Plan can be purchased during homeownership. It is not necessary for you to be involved in a Real Estate Transaction at the time of enrolment.

Is there a limit to the number of service calls I can place each year?

Absolutely Not! There is no limit to the number of service calls you can place on your home each year with the Canadian Home Protection Plan. In fact, many customers place multiple service calls each year and save hundreds to thousands of dollars in repair bills.

Once you submit a claim on a specific appliance, then that will be the appliance that will be attached to your membership.  EX: Claim on dishwasher, you cannot claim a breakdown on a different dishwasher.

Is there a service fee per visit?

Yes, There is a service fee charged by the service repair company.   

If a repair involves two different technicians you will owe a fee for each one. Any additional costs for parts and service will be covered by your policy. There is no limit to the number of repairs we cover.


What is Canadian Home Protection Plan?

The Canadian Home Protection Plan (CHPP) is a membership that provides coverage for major appliances. This membership covers failures due to normal wear and tear of systems and appliances located within the foundation of the home during the term of the agreement. For an annual fee, CHPP will service major home appliances through contracted third party service providers. 

Canadian Home Protection Plan provides customers with service plans covering repair costs for most major household appliances at the time of breakdown.  When a covered appliance breaks down, customers place a service request on CHPP.ca

Then CHPP forwards the authorized requests to an established network of qualified service contactors to resolve the issue.  The qualified service contractor accepts the work and a ticket is issued.  The qualified service contractor contacts the client to schedule the service call appointment. .

What does the Canadian Home Protection Plan cover?

The membership covers you home major appliances.  The homes refrigerator, range, stove & fan/hood, dishwasher, clothes washer & dryer, garbage disposal.

I have an older home. Will I have to pay more for a service contract?

No, The Canadian Home Protection Plan provides coverage for appliances to any home no matter what its age - as well as any brand appliances. However, appliances must be in good working order at the start of the coverage.

Can my CHPP and be renewed?

Yes. The Canadian Home Protection Plan can renewed. You will be notified by e-mail of your agreement's upcoming expiration date and the terms of renewal before the end of your term. Visit your Mortgage Broker to has this renewed.

Will I be reimburse for services that I had done outside the contract?

Unfortunately no, as outlined in the Terms and Conditions of the contract, should the homeowner contract directly with others or do the work themselves, we will not be responsible for reimbursement of that cost.
